Getting your tires rotated may sound silly if you’re not too technical when it comes to cars. But the phrase “rotating your tires” isn’t the same as what your tires do on the road when you drive. Rotating your tires actually means moving the positions of your tires on your car.
So why should you get your tires rotated, and how often? To answer the first, it allows your tires to wear evenly. When you drive, it is your front tires that wear down more quickly, as they undergo the forces of steering. That means, given a couple years, your front tires would have much less tread than your back tires. So what do you do? You rotate them, bringing front to back and back to front. This allows them to wear evenly.
We recommend rotating your tires every six months, that way you can just pack the chore into your oil change here with us at SouthTowne Hyundai. Have more maintenance questions? Our expert staff will be happy to assist you—just give us a call or bring your questions to your next service visit.
