Anyone can throw some dish soap on their car, but if you want to preserve your paint job and leave your car looking shiny and beautiful, you have to have some technique. Here are some easy tips on how to wash a car the right way.
Before you get started, park your car out of direct sunlight so the sun can’t make it dry splotchy. Get your supplies together: a hose, two buckets, your soap, a sponge, and drying cloths.
Fill the bucket with water and then put in the amount of soap specified on the bottle. Fill up another bucket with plain water, and then hook up your hose. Spraying the car helps knock loose some of the dirt.
Pull up the windshield wipers so you can clean under them, and then dip your sponge into the soapy water and start washing. Start at the top of the car and work your way down. Rinse your dirty sponge in the bucket of plain water.
Hose the car off, making sure to keep it wet the entire time you’re cleaning so you it doesn’t start to dry. When the whole car is rinsed, dry it off with your towel, taking care to remove any splotchy areas.
