How to Get Your Christmas Tree Home Without a Problem

Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means it is time for the most wonderful time of the year—Christmas. If you are getting ready to head out to your local Christmas tree farm to choose the perfect tree for your family, then it’s important you know exactly how to get your Christmas tree home. Here are some tips to make this adventure easy and to keep you from damaging either your tree or your vehicle.

Wrap the branches. The pine needles of your Christmas tree can do a lot of damage to your vehicle if they’re not properly secured. They can also shake lose during transit, resulting in a balding tree. To avoid damage to your tree and car, remember to wrap your tree in netting before you tie it to your roof. If you don’t have netting, then simply use a blanket or a tarp.

Point it the right way. Avoid any excess wind damage to your tree by pointing it in the right direction. The tree trunk should be pointed towards the front of the car to prevent your tree’s branches and needles from being damaged. This also helps you stay more aerodynamic, keeping you safer and more fuel-efficient.

Securely tie it. No one wants to lose their tree on the way home, so make sure it is tied tightly to the roof. If you don’t have roof rails, simply open the door of your car and loop a rope up, around your tree, and through your car. Do this multiple times to ensure your tree is secure, then close the doors. This will make sure you and your perfect tree get home safe and sound.
