Popular Mechanics has named the 2015 Hyundai Genesis the Luxury Car of the Year in its annual Car of the Year Awards. The prestigious award was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and more details are available in the December/January issue of the Popular Mechanics magazine.
“The all-new Genesis is redefining the luxury market by offering premium features and advanced technology at an unbeatable value,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president of corporate and product planning, Hyundai Motor America, in a statement. “Receiving the honor of ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ from a prestigious publication like Popular Mechanics further demonstrates why the 2015 Genesis is truly in a league of its own and goes toe-to-toe with the best cars in the world.”
In this year’s competition, the Genesis was able to beat out the popular German luxury models. The Genesis stood out from the competition with its well-equipped models, high safety standards and crash test scores, dynamic design, technology, and luxury amenities.
Come see how Hyundai is redefining luxury with the 2015 Genesis, available now at Southtowne Hyundai.
As winter looms closer, everyone here in Georgia should do some winter car maintenance. We definitely don’t want to repeat the winter driving disaster that happened earlier this year. Here are a few simple steps to make sure you and your car are ready for the cold season ahead.
- Get a tune up. If your car has been making any strange sounds, now is the time to get it checked out. You can also get your oil changed and get a complete check-up for your car.
- Check the battery. Cold weather can be hard on batteries. Make sure the leads are clean and your battery is in good condition.
- Check your tires. While we don’t get much snow here in Georgia, we wouldn’t recommend switching to snow tires, though you still need to make sure you have adequate tire tread to keep you safely on the road.
- Make sure your lights work. As the days get shorter, you will be using your headlights more often. Make sure all of your exterior lights are working and aimed properly so you can see in the dark and other drivers can see you.
- Keep supplies in your car. This last tip is for those “just in case” times. Keep a blanket, bottles of water, snack foods, and any other supplies you might need if you’re stuck on the side of the road (or in standstill traffic) for a few hours.

Hyundai appreciates the men and women who put their lives on the line to help protect our country—and it shows. Victory Media, Inc., a veteran-owned business, recently recognized the Korean carmaker on their 2015 Military Friendly Employer List, rewarding Hyundai’s long-term commitment to hiring and recruiting former military members.
“Hyundai has the greatest respect for military veterans and appreciates their sacrifices for our country,” said Dave Zuchowski, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. “Hyundai is committed to work one-on-one with service members to assist them with the transition into the civilian workplace, and we will continue to invite veterans to share and participate in Hyundai’s vision and growth.”
Currently, Hyundai employs about 1,000 veterans in positions ranging from its corporate headquarters to dealerships and manufacturing plants. The carmaker even has a special policy for Guard and Reserve members called away to active duty, allowing these individuals to return home and be reinstated to their former position within the company.
Along with being a member of the 2015 Military Friendly Employer List, Hyundai also offers some great military discounts to its customers. Stop in to Southtowne Hyundai today and see what we have to offer!
If you counted up all the zeroes, you know that number is 10 million. With the 10,000,000th Hyundai Elantra sold around the world, the Elantra is now in an exclusive group of high-volume cars. It is now one of only 10 cars in the auto industry, and the first for Hyundai, to reach this monumental milestone.
The Elantra was first introduced in 1990 and reached this goal by selling an average of 1,100 models a day.
“Reaching this historic mark is a testament to Elantra’s staying power and the global appeal of a vehicle that delivers design, functionality and performance,” said Bob Pradzinski, vice president of National Sales, Hyundai Motor America, in a statement. “As a company it also shows our ability to quickly adapt to changing consumer preferences and continue to push the compact car segment with features once reserved for luxury vehicles.”
In its 24-year history, the Elantra has left its mark on the industry. In 2012, it was named the North American Car of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show. It is currently produced in Montgomery, Alabama, and has helped give Hyundai U.S. sales records for the past four years.
Currently, the Elantra is one of the most popular models in the compact car segment. Stop by Southtowne Hyundai today to see what makes this model such a great car.
