Signs You Need New Brakes

Need New Brakes

The braking system is arguably the most important part of a car. Without it, all that collision prevention technology is useless so it’s important to keep it in top condition. If you need new brakes, feel free to stop in at SouthTowne Hyundai and see what other services we have to offer! Here are a few signs it’s time to have your braking system inspected:

  • Vibrating – If the brake pedal is vibrating, it could be an indicator of warped rotors. Generally caused by braking for long periods of time, like when towing, warped rotors are a danger and mean that the brake pad isn’t touching the surface of the rotor evenly. While it isn’t cause for immediate alarm, it certainly means you should schedule a service appointment as soon as possible and avoid braking for long periods of time.
  • Seeing – By looking through the wheel spokes on most vehicles, it’s possible to perform a physical inspection of your brake pads. The pad should be pressed against the rotor when parked. If it looks like there’s less than a quarter-inch of pad left, make an appointment for the near future.
  • Grinding – A loud grinding or growling sound indicates that the pads are completely gone and you’ve likely damaged your rotors. Make a service appointment right away and don’t be surprised if the technician suggests a new set of rotors altogether.

Hyundai Tucson Earns Top Safety Ratings

We at SouthTowne Hyundai know how important it is to drive a vehicle that will keep you and your family safe, no matter what happens. That is why we are thrilled to announce that the 2016 Hyundai Tucson SUV earned top safety ratings and offers outstanding crash protection.

Vehicles are put through intensive testing by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) and the Hyundai Tuscan SUV held up to the demanding crash tests. The Tuscan is the only vehicle in the small SUV category that received good ratings for both driver and passenger in the small-overlap crash test ratings.

The Tuscan has many advanced safety technologies such as AEB with pedestrian detection, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and many more. These technologies help to prevent crashes, but even if a crash does happen, the Tuscan proves to keep people safe. The IIHS commended Hyundai for the work they are doing in keeping both the driver and passengers protected in case of a small overlap crash.
